Recording a Snippet Take with Playback in Snippets Mode

Posted

I want to MIDI record a snippet take while other snippets (beeing looped) play back.

See screenshot explaining the intention.

Currently I think this is only possible when I am working in horizontal arrangement view.

But when I am in the otherwise great Snippets view I can only record without hearing the other looping snippets (while heating those might be very helpful as kind of backing track).

Is my observation of current limitation correct? Otherwise please help how I can hear other snippets while MIDI recording IN Snippet view mode.

If I am correct woud this be a reasonable extension for future versions ?

Yes, it's not currently possible. I think it's a very good idea though. Snippet mode has a lot of potential for future improvements.

Hi Andre,

can you give an idea about your plans for this feature? Will it come soon, i.e. v 2.1 ?

I agree there is a great workflow to be had here.

After rolling the dice with existing snippets and getting a good combination, often the next thing one naturally wants to do is to add a little extra motif/counter-melody by playing your keyboard/controller.   IOW, record a new figure (into a new snippet) while the snippets matrix plays.

A choice of DAW-like cycle recording modes would be ideal here.

Of course, we will run with whatever initial implementation might be provided!
